Leah Stewart

Leah Stewart, a 34-year-old mother, is in the news following a severe shark attack at Coogee Beach in Sydney on Saturday, June 13th. She was bitten by a suspected 3.5-meter great white shark, sustaining multiple bites to her arms and legs and experiencing extreme blood loss. Stewart was initially in critical condition and placed in an induced coma, undergoing several surgeries. Tragically, one of these surgeries resulted in the amputation of her arm. After more than a week in a coma, she briefly woke to speak her first words, "I love you," to her family. Her family has expressed devastation over the incident. Stewart's survival and recovery from such a traumatic event, including the significant injury of an arm amputation, make her a subject of current public interest and concern.
