Lu

The surname "Lu" is associated with two separate news stories originating from China. In the first instance, a man surnamed Lu from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, engaged in a retaliatory act against his neighbor, surnamed Li. Following a dispute, Lu blasted ghost stories over speakers for approximately 10 hours daily, maintaining the volume just below the legal limit. This act, intended as harassment, drew widespread attention and ridicule online and was revealed by the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China. Separately, a netizen surnamed Lu in Changchun, Jilin province, recorded a video of seven dogs that had escaped from captivity. The dogs, stolen from villages for the dog meat trade, were filmed walking along a highway. This video garnered over 230 million views and sparked calls for stronger animal protection laws in China. Both instances highlight different aspects of contemporary Chinese society, from neighborly disputes to animal welfare concerns.
