Mary Wollstonecraft

Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) was an English writer, philosopher, and advocate of women's rights. She is best known for her work "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman" (1792), in which she argued for the education and equality of women. Wollstonecraft is considered one of the founding feminist philosophers. She is newsworthy right now because French filmmaker Mia Hansen-Løve is planning a historical film centered on her life. Hansen-Løve, who recently received an award at the D'A Festival de Cinema de Barcelona, is currently working on this ambitious project. The film's focus on Wollstonecraft highlights the enduring relevance of her ideas about gender equality and her significant contribution to the development of feminist thought.
