Paul Bresland

Paul Bresland is a 13-year-old boy who demonstrated remarkable bravery and resilience in Western Australia. He is currently newsworthy due to his heroic actions in saving his family. Recently, while paddleboarding and kayaking with his mother and two younger siblings near Quindalup in Geographe Bay, the family was swept 4km out to sea. In a display of what rescuers called “superhuman” survival instincts, Paul swam for four hours through choppy waters and fading light to reach the shore and raise the alarm. His actions enabled marine rescue volunteers to locate and rescue his stranded family. Paul's courage and determination have been widely praised, highlighting the importance of water safety and the extraordinary capabilities of young people in crisis situations.
