Robert Mueller

Robert Mueller, former FBI Director and special counsel, has died at the age of 81. He is most notably known for leading the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election and potential collusion with the Trump campaign. His investigation defined much of Donald Trump's first term, with Trump frequently denouncing it as a "witch hunt." Mueller's death is newsworthy due to his prominent role in American political history. Following the announcement of his death, Donald Trump posted on social media expressing satisfaction, stating Mueller could no longer harm innocent people. This reaction has been widely condemned as callous and vile. Separately, the Justice Department recently settled a lawsuit with Michael Flynn, a figure investigated by Mueller's team, for $1.2 million.
