Rubina Aminian

Rubina Aminian was a 23-year-old student of textile and fashion design at Shariati Technical and Vocational College for Girls in Tehran, Iran. She is newsworthy because she was reportedly killed during the ongoing anti-government protests in Iran. According to Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based group, Aminian was shot in the head at close range on January 8, 2024, after leaving college and joining a protest. Her body was reportedly buried by the roadside. Aminian is one of the few individuals killed in the recent demonstrations to be identified. Her death highlights the violent crackdown by the Iranian regime on nationwide demonstrations and adds to the growing list of reported casualties, including other young people like coach Amir Mohammad Koohkan, killed during the protests.
