Sepideh Farsi is a filmmaker who was among over 600 figures in the French cinema industry to sign an open letter expressing concern over the growing influence of billionaire Vincent Bolloré. The letter, published in Libération to coincide with the Cannes film festival, warned of a potential "fascist takeover of the collective imagination" due to Bolloré's dominant position in French film production and distribution. In response to this petition, the head of Canal+, France's largest film producer and a company associated with Bolloré, announced that the group would blacklist individuals who signed the letter. This action highlights a significant division within the French film industry regarding artistic freedom, political influence, and the control of media conglomerates.
