Bally Bagayoko

Bally Bagayoko is the mayor of Saint-Denis, France, elected under the La France Insoumise (LFI) banner. He is currently newsworthy due to being the target of racist actions. Recently, Bagayoko, along with four other Black LFI elected officials (Danièle Obono, Aly Diouara, Carlos Martens Bilongo, and Nadège Abomangoli), filed a lawsuit in response to racist letters and graffiti. The letters contained imagery and phrases derived from "Tintin au Congo," and the graffiti was discovered in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. Bagayoko's election and subsequent anti-racism rally in Saint-Denis also prompted a planned far-right demonstration, which was ultimately banned by the local prefecture due to concerns about public order. His case highlights the ongoing issue of racism in France, particularly targeting visible minorities and those involved in anti-racist activism.
