Shane Gero

Shane Gero is the lead scientist of Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative), an international research effort focused on understanding whale communication. He and his team are newsworthy due to their recent success in filming the birth of a sperm whale off the coast of Dominica on July 8, 2023. This is the first time a sperm whale birth has been captured on film.
