Silvia Zhang

Silvia Zhang, a 39-year-old Chinese-born woman, is currently facing serious child abuse charges in California. She and her husband, Guojun Xuan, 66, have been arrested and are expected to face conspiracy to commit child abuse charges. Prosecutors are seeking US$100 million bail for each of them. The couple allegedly orchestrated a surrogacy scheme involving at least 21 children, who were raised in their California mansion. Investigations revealed that Zhang and Xuan are accused of directing nannies to physically punish the children. They reportedly monitored these punishments through an extensive surveillance system and coached the nannies. Fifteen children have been removed from the couple's home in Arcadia as a result of the investigation. The case highlights concerns about child welfare within surrogacy arrangements and the alleged mistreatment of vulnerable children.
