Tam Lik-chung

Tam Lik-chung, a 33-year-old former assistant correctional officer in Hong Kong, has recently admitted to severely wounding an inmate. The assault occurred at Pik Uk Prison and involved Tam repeatedly thrusting a stick into the victim's rectum. This brutal act reportedly followed an incident where Tam was sprinkled with baby powder during a game. Tam pleaded guilty in the District Court to wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Another inmate, Ho Lik-wun, also pleaded guilty to assisting in the assault by holding down the victim. Two other prisoners, Bosco Lee and Brian Lam Shing-wai, were also found guilty of the same charge for their involvement in the attack. Tam's admission of guilt and the subsequent convictions of other individuals highlight a significant case of misconduct within the correctional services and a severe breach of prisoner welfare.
