Vladimir Alekseyev

Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev is a deputy chief of Russia's military intelligence agency, the GRU. He is newsworthy because he was recently shot multiple times in Moscow by an unidentified assailant in what appears to be an assassination attempt. The shooting occurred on the stairwell of his apartment building in the northwest of the city. Alekseyev was immediately hospitalized and is reportedly in critical condition.
