Zeinab Faraj

Zeinab Faraj is a freelance camera operator who was seriously wounded in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon on April 22nd. The attack also resulted in the death of al-Akhbar newspaper reporter Amal Khalil. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and Legal Agenda have released separate reports concluding that the Israeli strike was an apparent war crime, with evidence suggesting the journalists were deliberately targeted while on assignment in the town of al-Tiri. These findings highlight the dangerous conditions faced by journalists reporting in conflict zones and underscore calls for accountability for actions that harm civilians and media personnel. Faraj's injury and the circumstances surrounding it have brought renewed attention to the protection of journalists in active conflict areas.
