Mojtaba Khamenei’s absence signals shifting role for Iran leader
The absence of Mojtaba Khamenei from the funeral ceremonies of Ali Khamenei, who was killed on February 28 in an air strike, has sparked speculation. These absences have raised questions regarding Mojtaba Khamenei's health and potential fears of assassination. Furthermore, his non-attendance suggests he may assume a different role as the new leader compared to his father. The funeral ceremonies concluded on Thursday in Mashhad, with prominent figures such as Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei in attendance. Ali Khamenei's eldest son, Mostafa Khamenei, was also present at the burial.
