Berlin Pride van and knife rampage an ‘Islamist terror attack’, authorities say
Authorities have declared a van and knife rampage near Berlin's Pride festival an Islamist terror attack. The incident occurred Saturday evening in Tiergarten park, killing one person and injuring 29 others. A 21-year-old German national of Lebanese roots, identified as Abdul Ballout, was the chief suspect. German officials stated Ballout had a history of criminal offenses, radicalization, and affiliation with the Islamist scene. He was shot dead by police during an operation. The attack forced organizers to shorten the Pride event, which was celebrating LGBTQ+ rights.
