India has entered the commercial space race with the successful maiden orbital launch of Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 rocket. The privately developed rocket lifted off on Saturday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, carrying customer payloads and in-orbit experiments. This achievement marks India as the third country, after the US and China, to possess private orbital launch capability.
