Acclaimed British photographer Martin Parr dies aged 73
British documentary photographer Martin Parr, known for his satirical and highly saturated color images of everyday life, has died at his home in Bristol at the age of 73. The Martin Parr Foundation announced his death, noting they will work with Magnum Photos to preserve his legacy. Parr, born in Surrey, was inspired by his grandfather and began his career after studying at the University of Manchester. He gained prominence in the 1980s with collections like "The Last Resort," depicting working-class life at the seaside, and "The Cost of Living," which captured gentrification under Margaret Thatcher. Parr had previously revealed being diagnosed with myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
