Zelensky should get ‘somebody else’ to negotiate to end Ukraine war, Trump says

Former US President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should find someone else to negotiate an end to the war with Russia. Trump previously suggested Ukraine replace Zelensky. He also commented that Russia has been "fine" regarding Ukraine, claiming they "haven't been doing much." The article also notes that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied claims that Washington is restricting intelligence sharing on Russian attacks with Kyiv, stating there has been "no pause." Rubio made these remarks in Uzbekistan after Zelensky criticized allies for not providing advance warnings of Russian missile strikes.

US President Donald Trump has suspended several sanctions on Russia, stating his intention is to keep peace negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine ongoing. Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that he did not want to "foolishly drive Russia away from the bargaining table" and is actively negotiating peace. This decision, made on Friday night, comes amid a deepening disagreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin a "historic mistake." A Russian envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, described Trump's order as a "historic moment," suggesting the sanctions would have caused "serious damage" to the US and global markets. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the suspension as a 60-day pause for economic impact analysis. Trump also suggested Zelensky "doesn't want to end this war" and could have secured a better deal previously.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine did not receive advance warning from the US regarding a Russian missile attack on Kyiv's power plants on Sunday evening. This follows reports from a Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson and a government official confirming the lack of warning. Zelenskyy suggested this withholding of intelligence, alongside delays in air defense missile supplies and a US waiver of sanctions on Russia, indicates a "denial of reality" from partners. The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, mentioned a possible software problem with Ukraine's early warning system, though US officials had not previously cited this. Ukraine has previously complained of not being warned before missile launches, amid public disagreements with former President Donald Trump, who is reportedly seeking to negotiate peace.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied any suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine, stating there has been no pause. This comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Washington had resumed providing critical intelligence to help Kyiv defend against Russian missile strikes, which had previously occurred without warning. Ukraine relies on US intelligence through the Starshield system to detect Russian ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy also expressed concern that US decisions, such as waiving sanctions on Russia, would hurt Ukraine. President Trump defended his actions, stating he is negotiating peace and believes Zelenskyy does not want the war to end. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called Zelenskyy's claims about the US government slowing satellite communications "reckless."

A Ukrainian presidential adviser, Serhii Beskrestnov, told the BBC that restrictions on US intelligence sharing are leading to Ukrainian deaths by limiting timely warnings of missile attacks. He suggested this, along with potential Starlink access issues, might be a deliberate US tactic to pressure Ukraine into negotiations with Russia. Beskrestnov stated that Ukraine is seeking alternative communication systems due to uncertainty about Starlink's future availability. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied any "pause" in intelligence sharing, expressing confusion over the adviser's claims. The article notes that Elon Musk indicated the US government controls Starshield access, and Trump has denied involvement in any restrictions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on Sunday. During the meeting, Zelensky stated that "a lot depends on America." This occurred as Zelensky had previously cautioned Washington against siding with Moscow in the ongoing conflict. The discussions took place while both Russia and Ukraine were targeting each other's energy infrastructure. Russia's actions resulted in thousands losing power, and Ukraine launched a significant drone attack on St. Petersburg.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war with Russia "must be brought to an end" and that Ukraine is preparing for diplomatic efforts to achieve this. He reported ongoing, "virtually nonstop" communication with US counterparts, including envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, emphasizing the significant role of the US position. This comes despite a diplomatic spat with former US President Donald Trump, who waived expected sanctions on Russia's energy sector and criticized Ukrainian strikes on energy infrastructure. Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude for the US resuming intelligence sharing, which had been paused, leaving Ukraine vulnerable to ballistic missile attacks. Ukraine has also reported limitations on its Starshield satellite service, hindering its ability to intercept Russian drones.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Ukraine currently does not have access to Starshield, the military-grade version of SpaceX's Starlink satellite service. Ukraine has requested access to Starshield to conduct deep strikes inside Russia, and this request is currently under discussion. Rubio clarified that Starshield is a defense product for government partners, distinct from the commercial Starlink service. He also denied that any recent disruptions to Starlink services in Ukraine were deliberate or related to US actions. The article notes that Ukrainian officials have reported restrictions on Starlink terminals impacting drone operations.

Russia has conducted a new wave of strikes across Ukraine, resulting in civilian casualties. The attacks have killed at least eight people and injured nearly 60 others. The specific locations and timing of these strikes are not detailed in the provided content, but the impact is described as widespread across Ukraine. The article states that these are the latest in a series of Russian strikes.

Kyiv and European leaders remain dependent on US support despite growing tensions with Russia and President Trump. Recent events, including a reported diesel deal with Russia and temporary Starlink disruptions, have widened a rift between Ukraine and the US. Despite these issues, the US continues to share intelligence and Europe funds US weapons for Ukraine, while Kyiv and Europe engage with Trump's diplomatic overtures to Moscow. Ukraine faces escalating Russian attacks and a parallel propaganda war, while European nations grapple with the financial burden of supporting Ukraine and upcoming elections. The article highlights the complex geopolitical landscape and the continued, albeit strained, reliance on US backing for Ukraine.

Former US President Donald Trump has denied limiting Ukraine's access to Starshield, a military-grade internet service. This denial comes after Ukraine reported speed restrictions on the network, which hampered its defenses against Russian attacks on Tuesday night. While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated speeds had not been restored, Elon Musk suggested the US government might be responsible for the curbs. Reuters reported the order originated from the White House. The restrictions occurred amid tensions between Washington and Kyiv over Ukraine's targeting of Russian oil refineries, a move criticized by Trump.

Ukraine has advanced in the Donetsk region, reclaiming approximately 100 square kilometers of territory as part of "Operation Vivaldi." This progress occurred during a week marked by strained US-Ukraine relations, with President Trump lifting some oil sanctions against Russia and reportedly restricting Ukraine's access to US intelligence and satellite services. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy expressed disappointment, stating it was painful when the US "chooses one side, not our side." Russia launched significant drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, coinciding with restrictions on Ukraine's use of SpaceX's Starlink satellite navigation services, which impacted its ability to intercept high-speed drones. Elon Musk indicated that US military decisions ultimately control Starshield service limitations. Despite these disruptions, Ukraine's counteroffensives have continued to regain ground and hinder Russian advances.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the military's access to Starlink satellite internet has not been fully restored, calling a reported White House order to throttle the service a "dangerous and unpleasant surprise." Media reports suggest the decision to slow Starshield, the military version of Starlink, originated within the White House. This comes as Zelenskyy met with European leaders in Brussels to request an additional €70 billion for Ukraine's defense next year. He also addressed concerns about potential financial shortfalls and discussed alternatives for utilizing frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

Russia is systematically targeting Ukraine's power plants with missiles and drones, aiming to degrade the quality of life for Ukrainians and force capitulation. Recent strikes on power plants and substations in Kyiv and Kharkiv have caused rolling blackouts and water outages, resembling a previously intercepted Russian blueprint. This strategy, reportedly developed by Russian military or intelligence agencies, aims to create humanitarian crises by destroying energy infrastructure, potentially leading to prolonged blackouts and deterioration of sanitary conditions. Ukraine's energy minister has briefed European allies on this plan, which involves specific weapon requirements to disable key energy facilities. The attacks coincide with political disputes between Washington and Kyiv, and Ukraine's energy system is reportedly outgunned.

Former US President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him "more difficult to deal with than Putin." Trump expressed frustration with Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries, stating they increase global oil prices, particularly as the US recently agreed to import Russian diesel. This US deal had previously angered Zelensky, who viewed it as a benefit to Putin. Zelensky's concerns were further amplified by restrictions on the Starlink internet network, crucial for Ukraine's defense, which coincided with deadly Russian strikes. The Trump administration had previously threatened to withhold intelligence sharing if Ukraine continued targeting Russian oil facilities.

Donald Trump has criticized Ukraine's resumption of strikes on Russian oil refineries as a "disgrace," stating it raises global oil prices. This action followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to abandon a ceasefire Trump had declared, which neither Russia nor Ukraine had agreed to. Trump reiterated his view that Zelenskyy is more difficult to deal with than Putin. Relations between Kyiv and Washington have been strained, with recent disruptions to Starlink services impacting Ukrainian drone missions. European leaders, however, have reaffirmed their support for Zelenskyy amidst doubts about long-term US commitment.

Ukrainian forces have liberated 277 square kilometers in the eastern Donbas region as part of Operation Vivaldi. This offensive relies heavily on digital connectivity, with Elon Musk's Starshield, the military version of Starlink, playing a key role in providing broadband for drones and other battlefield operations. However, Ukraine has expressed significant concern after experiencing unexplained restrictions on Starshield, which they believe may have originated from the White House. While not entirely dependent on the system, Starshield is vital for Ukraine's drone capabilities, and the sudden limitations have impacted their operations. The conflict also involves unmanned ground vehicles for logistics and combat, underscoring the importance of digital infrastructure in modern warfare.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has announced that Ukraine will resume strikes on Russian oil refineries following recent Russian attacks. This statement comes after Russia reported a Ukrainian strike on an oil refinery on Thursday. Zelensky criticized a recent US-brokered deal between Russia and the US to release diesel to the global market, viewing it as the US investing in Russia's war effort. He suggested that disruptions to US support, such as speed limits on Starlink, are not coincidental given Russia's ongoing attacks. Zelensky indicated that future deals involving Russian energy, like gas, are possible.

Ukraine's military Starshield satellite connection, a military-grade version of Elon Musk's Starlink, has reportedly been restored after a disruption that affected military missions. The service was reportedly restricted between Tuesday and Wednesday, impacting drone guidance, logistics, and reconnaissance. Ukrainian officials sought clarification from SpaceX, but Elon Musk stated that Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government, with any speed or usage limits decided by the US military and the President. Ukraine relies on Starshield for intelligence, particularly for guiding drones used to attack Russia. The exact reasons for the disruption and who ultimately imposed the restrictions remain unclear, though Musk denied SpaceX's direct involvement.

Elon Musk has suggested that the US government may be responsible for restricting the speed of Starlink satellite technology used by Ukraine's military. In a post on X, Musk alluded to the Trump administration as potentially being behind this decision. Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has stated he felt "betrayed" by the US, citing both a diesel deal and these Starlink restrictions. Ukraine claims these restrictions hinder their ability to utilize crucial defensive weapons. The article does not specify when these restrictions were imposed or when Musk made his suggestion.

During a visit to Washington, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting urged the United States to continue its support for Ukraine, aiming to ease tensions following a dispute over Starlink satellite internet. Streeting argued that backing Ukraine is in America's long-term economic and strategic interests, presenting it as a business opportunity. The Starlink issue, which reportedly limited Ukraine's military drone capabilities, has caused concern for Kyiv's war effort. Streeting acknowledged the significance of US support and the potential for future defense-industrial relationships. The discussions also touched upon other bilateral issues, but Ukraine's situation was highlighted as the most urgent.

Ukrainians are concerned about reduced US intelligence sharing, specifically from NATO early-warning satellites, which President Zelenskyy stated is impacting their ability to detect incoming Russian ballistic missiles. This lack of timely warnings, which previously provided up to ten minutes for evacuations, has coincided with intensified Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian observers suggest this may be linked to US President Donald Trump's push for an "energy ceasefire" and peace negotiations, potentially to influence upcoming midterm elections by lowering global oil prices. Trump has denied stopping intelligence sharing, but Ukraine's military suggests the reduced data hinders air defense effectiveness and precision strikes against Russian targets. Despite Kyiv temporarily halting refinery attacks, Russia has continued its strikes, and analysts believe Moscow is exploiting the situation.

Ukraine is facing a worsening situation with rising civilian casualties due to Russia's intensified attacks and restrictions on the Starlink internet system. Russia has been bombing power plants and infrastructure, aiming to cut off heating and electricity to Kyiv. Simultaneously, Ukraine's military has experienced Starlink throttling, impacting drones flying over 80 km/h, which is crucial for mid-range strikes and air defense against faster Russian drones. While the White House has denied pausing intelligence sharing, a two-day absence of ballistic missile warnings coincided with the Starlink issue, raising concerns in Kyiv about potential US pressure for a deal with Russia. The Starlink restrictions are expected to significantly hinder Ukraine's ability to conduct mid-strike operations and effectively intercept new Russian drones, potentially increasing civilian danger.

Ukrainian officials have accused SpaceX of throttling Starlink satellite services, impacting the country's ability to conduct military operations. An adviser to President Zelenskyy stated that overnight on Wednesday, services were limited for terminals traveling over 100 mph without prior warning, hindering Ukraine's drone capabilities and disrupting frontline logistics. This alleged throttling has drawn criticism from Poland, which funds Ukrainian Starlink subscriptions. The situation arises as Kyiv faces continued ballistic missile attacks. SpaceX has not yet officially commented on the accusations.

Elon Musk stated that any limitations on Ukraine's Starlink internet access are determined by the U.S. government, not his company, SpaceX. Ukraine reported that new speed limits on Starlink, restricting connectivity for weapons traveling over 100 mph, were disrupting battlefield missions. An advisor to President Zelensky suggested these restrictions were linked to recent tensions between Kyiv and Washington. Musk clarified that Starshield, the military version of Starlink, is controlled by the U.S. military and president, who make decisions regarding speed and usage. While connectivity was partially restored by Wednesday evening, Ukraine's former defense minister emphasized the critical need to remove speed limits entirely for the country's defense.

Iran is intensifying its crackdown on Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service, viewing it as a "tool of war" that could undermine state control over cyberspace amid ongoing conflict with the US and Israel. Authorities have outlawed Starlink, imposing fines and imprisonment for its use, possession, and distribution, with penalties escalating to the death penalty if linked to national security charges. Officials cite Starlink's ability to bypass government filtering and restrictions as a threat, particularly after prolonged internet shutdowns in response to protests and the war. Iran is employing jamming, GPS spoofing, and physical interception to block the service, and has also pursued diplomatic channels to halt its transmissions. The government advocates for domestic internet platforms and a tiered access model during restrictions.

Ukrainian soldiers have experienced restrictions on their Starlink satellite internet access, impacting combat missions. This disruption occurred as the Trump administration reportedly pressured Ukraine to cease long-range strikes on Russia's oil industry. The restrictions, affecting terminals used by military personnel, led to the failure of several missions, according to a military technology adviser to Ukraine's president. The outage coincided with Russia launching ballistic missiles at Ukraine without advance warning from the US, although Ukraine did receive warnings from other partners for subsequent barrages. SpaceX has not confirmed any changes to Starlink's functionality, and it remains unclear why the restrictions were implemented.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his country received no early warning from Western allies regarding a Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv that hit civilian infrastructure. Zelenskyy described the attack as "particularly vile" and emphasized the life-saving importance of intelligence sharing. This comes amid US threats to halt intelligence sharing with Ukraine, though Ukraine's foreign minister suggested cooperation continues, attributing the lack of warning to a specific Russian weapon type. The article also notes Donald Trump's demands for Ukraine to cease attacks on Russian oil refineries and his claims of an "energy ceasefire," which Zelenskyy stated he was unaware of and that Russia had continued its strikes. Ukrainian commanders acknowledge the value of US intelligence for missile launch warnings, despite being able to identify some targets independently.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a Kyiv power plant was among facilities hit, contradicting claims by US President Donald Trump of an "energy ceasefire." Zelenskyy indicated that he was unaware of any such deal. The Kremlin has not yet confirmed any agreement. Trump had announced a partial ceasefire in the Ukraine war. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk began addressing a security conference in Warsaw. The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was also scheduled to be announced in Stockholm.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that six Ukrainian energy sites were struck by Russia since US President Trump announced that energy infrastructure would not be targeted. Both Ukraine and Russia have been exchanging strikes on energy infrastructure for months, with Russia claiming these are legitimate targets supporting Ukraine's military operations. Analysis by BBC Verify indicates an increase in strikes on energy infrastructure by both sides leading up to winter, with Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy network reportedly increasing significantly this year. Trump has been advocating for Ukraine to cease strikes on Russian oil infrastructure to facilitate a deal for Russia to supply diesel to the US and global market, a deal Zelensky described as a "gift" to Putin.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed to retaliate if Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine's power grid, stating that Ukraine will respond if Russia does not agree to an energy ceasefire this winter. This comes amid a dispute with former US President Donald Trump, who announced an "energy ceasefire" that Zelenskyy said neither side had agreed to. Zelenskyy expressed surprise at Trump's announcement, which coincided with Russian drone attacks on Kyiv and a subsequent strike on a Kharkiv power station. European leaders have expressed support for Ukraine, with the EU's foreign policy chief noting that Russia has not adhered to any ceasefire agreements. The conflict also involves criticism from Baltic states regarding a US decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel imports, which they argue undermines pressure on Russia.

Russia has remained tight-lipped regarding US President Donald Trump's announcement of an immediate ceasefire on energy infrastructure strikes between Russia and Ukraine. While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed surprise, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated they would comment when they have something to say. Pro-Kremlin media, however, has framed Trump's announcement as a "gift" for Moscow, believing it benefits Russia by limiting Ukraine's ability to strike Russian oil facilities while Russia can continue targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Moscow reportedly sees this as a way to pressure Ukraine and potentially reduce US support. Russia has shown little inclination for a ceasefire, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stating Ukraine does not deserve a respite, and the Kremlin's objective remains Ukraine's capitulation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a Fox News interview that Russia continued attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure despite Donald Trump's announcement of an immediate energy ceasefire. Zelenskyy accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of rejecting peace efforts and called for increased pressure on Moscow. Ukraine, Zelenskyy affirmed, would honor the ceasefire and had not attacked Russian energy facilities overnight, but Russia had attacked Ukrainian gas and energy infrastructure. Trump had announced the ceasefire on Truth Social, though Moscow had not confirmed agreement, and the proposal's scope was disputed. Zelenskyy also addressed tensions regarding Trump's calls for Ukrainian elections, stating they are impossible without a significant pause in hostilities due to ongoing Russian attacks.

President Trump announced an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine, urging both sides to stop attacking energy infrastructure. This move follows the easing of sanctions on Russian fuel and comes amid global diesel shortages and rising consumer costs, which are pressuring Trump's Republican Party ahead of midterm elections. The decision has drawn criticism from US politicians and European allies, who fear it could provide Russia with revenue to finance its war in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated he was unaware of the truce but welcomed the announcement, emphasizing the need for details and American commitment to ensure Russian adherence. The ongoing conflicts have pressured global oil markets, with prices showing some decline following Trump's announcement and a separate diesel agreement with Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated he was unaware of Donald Trump's announcement of an "energy ceasefire" in the Ukraine war, as Russia continued to attack energy infrastructure. Trump posted on social media that both sides had agreed to the ceasefire, but Russia showed no signs of observing it, with strikes reported on a power station in Kharkiv. Despite the unconventional announcement, key Western allies like France and the UK expressed support for a real energy ceasefire, believing it could help stabilize global energy markets. Analysts, however, predict that a temporary lifting of sanctions on Russian diesel imports will have minimal impact on gas prices.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of violating a unilateral "energy ceasefire" announced by US President Donald Trump. Speaking at the Warsaw Security Forum, Zelenskyy expressed surprise at the deal and urged the US to ensure Russia's adherence, stating Ukraine would respond if attacks continued. This comes as the EU announced nearly 1,600 new sanctions on Russia's military industrial complex, the largest expansion to date. Meanwhile, Russia attacked Ukrainian gas production facilities in the Kharkiv region, causing damage. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, noted no evidence of a Russian ceasefire taking effect.

Ukrainian President Zelensky stated Kyiv would support an "energy ceasefire" proposed by President Trump, expressing hope for Russia's reciprocal readiness and US agreement. This statement followed reports of Russian drone and missile strikes on energy facilities in Kyiv and the Kharkiv region, which Zelensky noted occurred after Trump's proposal. While Britain, France, Canada, and the EU have welcomed Trump's call, Russia has not yet commented. Both nations have previously targeted each other's energy infrastructure, with Russia deeming its strikes legitimate military support and Ukraine characterizing its actions as efforts to reduce war financing.

No further details about the nature of the ceasefire or the specific terms of the agreement are provided within the given content. The response from President Zelenskyy indicates his positive reception to the news of a potential de-escalation in energy-related conflict.

US President Donald Trump announced an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia, effective immediately, stating both parties have agreed. This comes amid mutual attacks on energy infrastructure that have impacted global energy prices. Trump made the announcement on social media on Sunday. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had been pushing for a total 60-day ceasefire and suggested organizing elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed. Trump had criticized Zelenskyy for attacking Russian oil refineries, suggesting Ukraine needed a new president. Zelenskyy, in turn, had stated that Trump's announcement of a diesel deal with Putin emboldened Moscow and urged Washington to pressure Moscow for serious negotiations.

President Trump announced an "energy ceasefire" via a social media post. This announcement appears to have been unexpected by Ukraine, and Russia has not yet issued a comment. The article does not provide further details on the specifics of the ceasefire, its proposed timing, or the reasons behind President Trump's declaration. The context of this announcement, including any potential negotiations or agreements that may have preceded it, is not elaborated upon within the provided content.

Donald Trump announced an "ENERGY CEASEFIRE" between Ukraine and Russia via social media, claiming both sides had agreed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this announcement was "news to me" and that he would only accept such a deal if Russian President Vladimir Putin also agreed to end attacks. Earlier, Zelenskyy rejected a US call for Kyiv to stop bombing Russian oil refineries, insisting Russia must first end its own attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The article notes there was no sign of Russia observing the ceasefire, with continued drone and airstrikes reported in Ukraine. This dispute follows Trump's earlier decision to lift sanctions on Russian diesel exports, which Zelenskyy criticized.

US President Donald Trump has publicly called for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's removal, blaming him for rising diesel prices and their impact on the Republican Party ahead of midterm elections. Trump claims Zelenskyy's strikes on Russian refineries have hurt global diesel supplies, while Zelenskyy counters that Ukraine will continue strikes unless Russia ceases attacks on its energy infrastructure. This latest spat follows a history of tense relations, including Trump's first-term pressure on Zelenskyy to investigate Joe Biden. The article details past criticisms from Trump, such as demanding Zelenskyy cease refinery attacks in October 2026, implying Kyiv started the war in April 2025, and clashing over peace negotiations and resource agreements in February 2025.

President Trump announced a deal with President Putin to temporarily lift sanctions on US imports of Russian diesel, aiming to lower fuel prices. The agreement involves releasing millions of tonnes of diesel, with an initial shipment of 300,000 tonnes. However, energy and foreign policy analysts predict this will have little meaningful impact on US diesel prices due to the small quantities and the several weeks it will take for the fuel to arrive. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy criticized the deal as a "weak decision" that could encourage further Russian aggression, while Trump blamed Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries for rising fuel costs. Experts suggest the full terms of the deal are unlikely to be met due to damage to Russian refineries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched deadly strikes on civilians as a response to a deal brokered by Donald Trump to purchase large quantities of Russian diesel. Zelenskyy accused Washington of indirectly funding Moscow's war effort, asserting that the revenue would enable Russia to prolong its conflict. The agreement, announced by Trump as a measure to reduce diesel prices ahead of US midterm elections, reportedly blindsided Kyiv. European leaders, including Kaja Kallas of the EU, reiterated their support for Ukraine and commitment to sanctions against Russia, with plans to expand the sanctions list. Germany and Sweden also affirmed their continued support for Ukraine and adherence to sanctions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that a reported diesel deal between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin would provide Russia with increased funding for its ongoing war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy stated that this agreement would allow Russia to continue its attacks. The core concern expressed by Ukraine is that the financial resources generated by such a deal would directly support Russia's military operations. The article does not specify when this deal might have occurred or is planned to occur, nor does it detail the specific terms of the agreement. The primary focus of the report is Zelenskyy's public statement regarding the potential consequences of this purported transaction.

Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia with five glide bombs on Saturday morning, resulting in at least 15 fatalities, including three children. The bombs struck residential buildings, with one large apartment block being largely destroyed. At least 16 other people were injured, and more individuals are believed to be trapped under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are underway. President Zelensky stated that 13 other regions were also hit overnight and vowed a response. The attacks occurred shortly after an announcement regarding the import of Russian diesel into the US.

Former US President Donald Trump suggested Ukraine needs a new leader, stating that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not done enough to end the war. Trump made these remarks at the White House on Saturday, linking high diesel prices ahead of US midterm elections to Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries. He argued that under Zelenskyy, Ukraine has suffered significant losses and that the war should not have started. Ukraine's foreign minister defended Zelenskyy, asserting his support from the Ukrainian people and their right to decide their leadership. Trump also claimed that if he were president in 2022, the war would not have begun, attributing its start to "incompetence."

President Donald Trump announced a deal with Russia to supply over 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel to the US and global markets, with additional amounts planned for November and beyond. This agreement aims to alleviate surging fuel prices in the US ahead of the midterm elections. The deal comes despite existing sanctions on Russia due to its war in Ukraine, which have targeted buyers of Russian oil. Global diesel prices have risen due to conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, impacting supply chains and refinery operations. Analysts suggest the deal may have limited impact on the global energy crisis, and European countries might refuse to purchase Russian diesel. The US, a major diesel exporter, has seen its inventories fall sharply, prompting discussions about restricting exports and calls for Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that peace talks with Ukraine are unlikely to resume soon. In a call with US President Donald Trump, Putin cited drone attacks on Moscow during recent parliamentary elections as the reason for this stance. The Kremlin indicated that these attacks disrupted the possibility of immediate trilateral negotiations involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US. While Ukraine had expressed readiness for such talks, Russia will now assess when negotiations can restart. Separately, Trump announced a deal for Russia to supply over 300,000 tonnes of diesel to American and global markets following his call with Putin.

President Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to purchase significant quantities of Russian diesel fuel for the American and global markets. Trump stated the deal, which includes over 300,000 tons immediately and more in November, is essential to lower soaring fuel prices in the US, particularly for farmers and truckers, attributing the price hikes to Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted furiously, calling the deal "absolutely terrible" and an "investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged," suggesting it benefits Russia and undermines efforts to end the conflict. The agreement has also drawn criticism from Democrats for potentially undercutting sanctions against Russia.

President Donald Trump announced that Russia has agreed to supply significant amounts of diesel fuel to the American and global markets. This agreement, reached through discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, includes an immediate delivery of over 300,000 tonnes, followed by 500,000 tonnes in November and an additional 1 million tonnes shortly thereafter. Russia also stated its readiness to supply oil and oil products to these markets. This deal occurs amidst soaring fuel prices and follows a G7 agreement to release oil reserves. Ukraine's Ministry of Defence claimed that air strikes have impacted over half of the country's oil refining capacity.

President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to release Russian diesel into the global market. Putin has reportedly agreed to an immediate release of 300,000 tonnes of diesel, with further releases planned for November and beyond. Trump stated this deal aims to rapidly lower diesel prices for Americans and globally. This development comes as US diesel prices have doubled since February, impacting Republicans ahead of the midterm elections due to the rising cost of living. The US Treasury subsequently issued a temporary license to permit Russian diesel into the market. A Russian envoy welcomed the cooperation, stating it would benefit the world.
