Asiatic black bear

The Asiatic black bear, also known as the moon bear, is a medium-sized bear species native to Asia. Recently, these bears have become a significant concern in Japan due to an unusual increase in their activity and sightings in urban and suburban areas. In one notable incident, an Asiatic black bear broke into an elderly couple's home in Japan, raiding their refrigerator and contributing to a string of 14 break-ins in the past two weeks. This heightened activity has prompted authorities to launch hunts for the animals. Furthermore, an unprecedented bear sighting in Utsunomiya, a city of half a million people, led to the closure of nearly 100 primary and secondary schools as a precautionary measure.
