For instance, increased carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are making the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca increasingly perilous due to extreme heat, even outside of summer months. This underscores the ongoing tension between the need for reliable energy, often still met by fossil fuels, and the urgent imperative to address climate change driven by their emissions.
