Moon bears, scientifically known as Asiatic black bears, are a species currently facing significant threats, primarily due to the practice of bear bile farming. These bears are often kept in extremely small cages, enduring painful procedures where their bile is extracted for use in traditional medicine. Recent news highlights the plight and rescue of these animals. In Vietnam, musician Rick Wakeman performed a piano concert for 150 rescued moon bears at a sanctuary, drawing attention to their welfare. Concurrently, 27 moon bears in Laos have been rescued after years of confinement in tiny cages, marking a significant step towards their freedom and rehabilitation.
