Shravan

Shravan, also known as Sawan, is a significant month in the Hindu lunisolar calendar, dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. It is considered one of the holiest months, marked by fasting, prayers, and pilgrimages to Shiva temples. Devotees often observe special rituals and offer milk and water to the Shivalinga. Recently, a tragic stampede occurred near the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar, India, on the third Monday of Shravan. The incident, which resulted in seven deaths and over a dozen injuries, was reportedly triggered by panic after a snapped electric wire. This event highlights the immense devotion and large crowds that characterize Shravan observances, underscoring the month's religious importance and the potential challenges in managing such significant public gatherings.
