North Korea launches ballistic missiles as UN warns of nuclear advances

On Sunday, North Korea launched multiple short-range ballistic missiles into its eastern waters from the Sinpo area. The missiles traveled approximately 140 kilometers each. This action occurred days after the UN's nuclear watchdog cautioned about North Korea's significant progress in developing nuclear weapons. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff reported the launches and stated they are maintaining readiness in collaboration with the US and Japan. South Korean officials convened an emergency National Security Council meeting, expressing concern over the repeated missile tests and urging North Korea to cease these activities. The launches took place hours before the South Korean President departed for visits to India and Vietnam.
