Japan, Italy to boost tech, critical minerals cooperation

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed on Monday to enhance collaboration in advanced technologies, specifically semiconductors, and to fortify supply chains for critical minerals. This initiative aims to bolster economic security and advance defense ties between the two nations. The leaders also expressed support for a preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran, intended to resolve their conflict which has disrupted global oil supplies. Their discussions preceded their participation in a Group of Seven summit in France. Both leaders emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for the international community.
