Cathay Pacific to resume Middle East passenger flights from September

Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways will resume Middle East passenger flights in September, six months after suspending services due to the war.The airline said on Thursday it would progressively restore passenger and cargo operations, starting with freighter flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from August 1.Daily passenger flights to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and four-times-weekly services to Riyadh will resume on September 1.“These flights are already open for sale. Cathay will continue to closely monitor the evolving situation in the Middle East ahead of the resumption dates,” the airline said.A check by the South China Morning Post found that a Cathay round-trip economy flight from Hong Kong to Dubai in September cost up to HK$8,853, with HK$2,524 attributed to carrier surcharges.Cathay suspended all passenger and cargo flights to and from the Middle East on February 28, following a joint Iran" class="entity-link entity-event" data-entity-id="116770" data-entity-type="event">US-Israeli attack on Iran, and has since extended the suspension.
