Hurricane Fausto has intensified into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific Ocean, with forecasters anticipating its approach to the Hawaiian Islands next week. The National Hurricane Center in Miami stated on Friday that the likelihood of wind and rainfall impacts in the region is growing, though the precise location and severity remain uncertain. Currently, Fausto is located approximately 1,300 miles west of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and 1,600 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii, with maximum sustained winds around 100 mph. Additionally, swells from Fausto are expected to create dangerous surf and rip currents along parts of southern California. This development occurred while Tropical Storm Bertha, which had caused flooding and heavy surf along the Gulf Coast, dissipated.
