KMT accuses Taiwan’s government of failing to uphold South China Sea claims

Taiwan's opposition Kuomintang (KMT) party has accused the ruling government of failing to defend the island's claims in the South China Sea. The accusation stems from the government's perceived muted response to the Philippines' recent actions to assert territorial sea baselines around Scarborough Shoal. KMT culture and communications committee director Chen I-hsin stated on Sunday that the government is vocal when confronting mainland China but silent when Japan or the Philippines challenge Taiwan's claims. This criticism highlights a perceived inconsistency in the government's approach to territorial disputes in the region.
