Abu Zaeima

El-Obeid, also referred to as Abu Zaeima in some contexts, is a significant city located in Sudan's southern Kordofan region. It serves as a vital hub in the area. Recently, the city has become the focus of escalating aerial attacks, with drone strikes reported on multiple occasions. These attacks have resulted in a tragic loss of life, with reports indicating that up to 23 people were killed in one incident and at least 11 in another, which occurred in a market. Dozens more have been wounded. Local rights group Emergency Lawyers has attributed these strikes to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), although the group has not immediately claimed responsibility. The attacks underscore the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan and highlight the ongoing conflict impacting civilian populations in key urban centers.
