Bright Angel Creek

Bright Angel Creek, a waterway in the Grand Canyon that flows into the Colorado River, became the site of a significant flash flood on Saturday afternoon. The event occurred around 2:30 PM local time, impacting the Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch area. This sudden surge of water swept large boulders, metal structures, and other debris into the Colorado River. As a result, dozens of people were evacuated from the affected areas, with 62 individuals airlifted out. Authorities reported that more evacuations were expected. Tragically, at least 20 people are believed to be missing or unaccounted for following the flood. While no injuries have been reported thus far, the incident has prompted a large-scale search and rescue operation and highlights the dangers of flash floods in the Grand Canyon.
