The Clipper Lounge is a restaurant located within the Mandarin Oriental, a luxury five-star hotel in Central, Hong Kong. Eight individuals, five men and three women, reported symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever after dining at the Clipper Lounge on January 31st and February 2nd. These illnesses have prompted the Mandarin Oriental to remove certain seafood items, including raw oysters, from its menus across all restaurants as a precautionary measure. The hotel is cooperating with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Centre for Food Safety to investigate the incident. The outbreak contributes to a recent increase in food poisoning cases in Hong Kong, raising concerns about food safety standards and practices within the city's dining establishments.
