Görlitz

Poland has prolonged border controls with Germany for another six months, causing discontent among residents like Rafał Gronicz, the mayor of Zgorzelec, who notes the traffic disruptions caused by these controls at the Görlitz border crossing. Simultaneously, Görlitz is pioneering a German-Polish heating network that aims to provide climate-neutral heating using biomass and solar thermal energy. This project is significant as cities are mandated to develop climate-friendly heating plans, and Görlitz is setting an example of cross-border collaboration in achieving this goal.
