Halmahera

Halmahera is an island in eastern Indonesia, recently in the news due to an eruption of Mount Dukono. This volcano spewed an ash cloud approximately 10 kilometers into the air. The eruption tragically resulted in the deaths of three hikers, including two foreigners and one Indonesian resident from the nearby island of Ternate. Additionally, ten other hikers are reported missing following the event. Residents near the mountain reported continuous ejection of ash and rock material from the crater, even as rescue operations were underway.
