Kaungtup village

Kaungtup village is a location in Namhkam township, Shan State, Myanmar, situated near the Chinese border. The village has recently become the site of a major tragedy. On Sunday, a massive explosion occurred due to stored mining explosives, resulting in a significant loss of life. Initial reports indicated at least 45 deaths, with local rescue volunteers later putting the number at a minimum of 38. Rescue and charity groups, utilizing excavation machinery, have been actively engaged in recovering bodies in the aftermath of the blast. The incident has drawn attention due to the scale of the casualties and the destruction caused by the explosion of stored explosives, highlighting potential safety concerns related to such materials in the region.
