Mongwalu

Mongwalu is a gold-mining town located in the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This region has recently become newsworthy due to a significant Ebola outbreak. As of the latest reports, there have been 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths attributed to the deadly hemorrhagic fever. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has confirmed the outbreak, with Mongwalu and the nearby town of Rwampara being particularly affected. The proximity of Ituri province to Uganda and South Sudan has raised concerns about the potential for cross-border transmission, prompting an urgent meeting involving health officials from these nations.
