Anqing

The Anqing is a Type 055 guided-missile destroyer, a 12,000-tonne vessel recently commissioned into the People's Liberation Army (PLA) East China Fleet. These destroyers are considered advanced warships, and their deployment to the East China Fleet is newsworthy due to the region's strategic importance, particularly concerning Taiwan. Recently, the Anqing, along with the Dongguan, participated in its first live-fire training exercise in mid-March, simulating high-intensity combat missions. This exercise occurred shortly after their assignment to the PLA division overseeing Taiwan and the East China Sea. The commissioning of Type 055 destroyers into this fleet signals a potential intensification of Chinese naval operations in the region and beyond the first island chain, increasing China's naval capabilities and projecting power in the East China Sea.
