The Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) is a maritime law enforcement agency of the People's Republic of China. It has recently become newsworthy due to its expanded law-enforcement patrols beyond traditional areas. Notably, the CCG conducted its first independent patrol east of Taiwan, which Beijing stated was a response to maritime boundary talks between Japan and the Philippines.
