Inspección de Trabajo

Inspección de Trabajo (Labor Inspection) is the Spanish labor inspectorate, responsible for ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. It is currently newsworthy due to a push by the Ministry of Labor to strengthen control over work hour registration. The Ministry, led by Yolanda Díaz, is developing a new digital system accessible remotely by the Inspección de Trabajo to monitor and enforce compliance with working hour regulations. This initiative aims to address current non-compliance issues. However, the Consejo de Estado (Council of State) has issued a critical opinion against the proposed regulations. Despite this opposition, the Ministry of Labor intends to proceed with the new system. Separately, Inspección de Trabajo is also involved in investigations related to a railway accident in Adamuz, with Adif (the railway infrastructure manager) stating its full cooperation with the ongoing inquiries.
