MiDGT

MiDGT is the organization behind the MiDNI (digital ID) and digital driver's license applications in Spain. These applications allow citizens to carry digital versions of their official identification documents on their mobile devices. Recently, the Central Electoral Board (JEC) has suspended the use of both MiDGT and MiDNI for voting purposes, both in-person and by mail. This decision was made following a request from the Partido Popular (PP), who raised concerns about the security and reliability of identity verification through these digital systems during elections. The JEC's suspension will remain in effect until it can be guaranteed that the identity verification process using MiDGT and MiDNI is sufficiently secure. This development highlights ongoing debates about the security and feasibility of using digital identification methods in sensitive processes like elections.
