Peru's National Civil Defence Institute (INDECI) is the government agency responsible for managing and responding to natural disasters and emergencies within the country. Following two earthquakes that struck the mountainous Junin region, with magnitudes of 5.1 and 3.7, the institute's chief confirmed at least six fatalities and 21 injuries. Another earthquake, measuring 5.5 magnitude in the Andes, also resulted in casualties, with authorities reporting at least five deaths, over 20 injured, and 300 displaced individuals.
