Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)

The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) is the internationally recognized government of Yemen. It is currently newsworthy due to recent shifts in territorial control within the country. Specifically, the PLC has recently retaken control of two strategic southern provinces after a month-long takeover by the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC). This reverses the STC's gains and reasserts the PLC's authority in the south. However, the PLC still faces significant challenges, including the ongoing Houthi control of the northwest of Yemen. The PLC's ability to maintain control of the recaptured southern areas and navigate the complex political landscape remains crucial for the future of a united Yemen. The STC leader, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, is now facing 'high treason' charges.
