Andre Ventura

Andre Ventura is a prominent figure in Portuguese politics, known as the leader of the far-right Chega (Enough) party. He is considered an anti-establishment figure. Ventura recently ran for president of Portugal in the 2026 election. He advanced to a runoff election against Antonio Jose Seguro of the Socialist Party, marking only the second time in Portugal's democratic history that a presidential election required a runoff. While his strong showing in the first round signaled a surge in support for the far-right in Portugal, he ultimately lost the runoff election to Seguro by a significant margin. His campaign and the attention it garnered highlight the growing presence and influence of far-right political movements within Europe, particularly amidst rising costs of living and voter disaffection.
