German investigators find apparent motive after Berlin Pride attack
German investigators have uncovered a video on a phone found in the minivan used in the Berlin Pride attack, in which the accused attacker, 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, appears to pledge allegiance to ISIL (ISIS). The attack, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in one fatality and 31 injuries. Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese roots, was shot dead by police on Sunday after attacking officers with a bladed weapon. The video was recorded on the day of the attack. Data storage devices found at Ballout's home also reportedly contained links to ISIL. Prosecutors stated Ballout had previously traveled to Lebanon with the intention of going to Syria to join ISIL.
