Evian-les-Bains

Evian-les-Bains is a resort town located on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) in France, at the foot of the French Alps. Known for its thermal springs and bottled water, Evian is a popular tourist destination. The town is newsworthy due to two recent events. Firstly, France is hosting the G7 summit in mid-June, and Evian-les-Bains is the scheduled location for the leaders' summit. The French President, Emmanuel Macron, has extended an invitation to US President Donald Trump to attend. Secondly, the casino in Evian-les-Bains, an emblematic building in the town, suffered significant material damage in a fire on March 31, 2026. The fire originated in the roof of an adjacent pub and spread to the historic casino building. While the dome of the casino was reportedly saved, the incident underscores the vulnerability of the town's historical landmarks.
