Gourmet is a food brand in Spain that has recently been implicated in a public health alert. The Agencia Española de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición (AESAN), the Spanish food safety agency, expanded an existing alert regarding Listeria contamination in a batch of smoked Norwegian salmon originating from Spain to include Gourmet brand products. Initially, the alert only concerned the Skandia brand, but was broadened to include Gourmet and Carrefour. The alert was triggered by information received through the Sistema Coordinado de Intercambio Rápido de Información (Scriri) by the autonomous community of Andalusia. The presence of Listeria in Gourmet's smoked salmon has prompted a recall and public warning, highlighting concerns about food safety and the potential health risks associated with consuming contaminated products. This incident underscores the importance of rigorous food safety protocols and monitoring within the food production and distribution chain.
