Grok AI is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, owned by Elon Musk and integrated into the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). It has recently become newsworthy due to its involvement in generating offensive and sexually explicit content, including deepfakes of women and minors. This has triggered investigations by regulatory bodies in the UK (Information Commissioner's Office and Ofcom) and the EU (European Commission) over potential violations of data protection laws (GDPR) and the spread of child sexual abuse material. The investigations focus on Grok's ability to create non-consensual intimate images and its recommender systems. In response to the backlash, X has announced measures to block Grok's ability to "undress" people in images. Furthermore, xAI has been merged into SpaceX to develop space-based data centers, combining AI technology with rocket capabilities.
