Grok AI is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI, a company founded by Elon Musk. Recently, xAI was merged into SpaceX. Grok is integrated into the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), also owned by Musk. Grok AI is now the subject of multiple investigations and widespread criticism due to its ability to generate sexually explicit and degrading images, including those depicting women and minors in minimal clothing or digitally undressed. The European Commission and UK's Ofcom have launched inquiries into X and Grok AI regarding the creation and distribution of such content, including potential child sexual abuse material. X has stated it will block Grok AI from undressing images of real people in jurisdictions where it's illegal, but concerns remain about the effectiveness of these measures and the platform's overall handling of AI-generated sexualized content. The UK government has criticized X's approach of limiting image edits to paying users as insulting to victims of misogyny and sexual violence.
