Javier Escribano

Ángel Escribano is a businessman who recently served as the president of Indra, a Spanish multinational technology and consulting company. He became president in January 2025, succeeding Marc Murtra. Escribano's tenure was marked by a proposed merger between Indra and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E), a defense company owned by the Escribano family. This merger aimed to create a major Spanish defense champion. However, the merger ultimately failed due to conflicts and disagreements with the Spanish government, Indra's largest shareholder through SEPI. This failure, coupled with reported clashes with SEPI, led to Escribano's resignation in April 2026. His departure and the failed merger have caused market uncertainty, with Indra's stock value declining. The government deemed his position untenable after the merger's collapse. Rheinmetall, a German military giant, is now reportedly interested in acquiring Escribano Mechanical & Engineering.
