Leona Kamio

Leona Kamio is a pro-Palestinian activist involved with the organization Palestine Action. She gained recent notoriety due to her participation in a break-in at the Elbit Systems factory in Filton, near Bristol, on August 6, 2024. Elbit Systems is an Israeli defense firm. Kamio, along with five other activists (Charlotte Head, Samuel Corner, Fatema Rajwani, Zoe Rogers, and Jordan Devlin), faced charges of aggravated burglary, which included accusations of threatening unlawful violence and using sledgehammers. All six were acquitted of the charges. Kamio's involvement and subsequent acquittal highlight the ongoing activism surrounding Israeli defense firms operating in the UK and the tactics employed by Palestine Action. The case also draws parallels to historical protest movements, such as the suffragettes, suggesting a perceived moral justification for the activists' actions.
