Leona Kamio

Leona Kamio is a pro-Palestinian activist associated with the group Palestine Action. She gained recent notoriety due to her involvement in a break-in at a UK site belonging to Elbit Systems, an Israeli defense firm, in August 2024. Kamio, along with five other activists (Charlotte Head, Samuel Corner, Fatema Rajwani, Zoe Rogers, and Jordan Devlin), faced charges of aggravated burglary, accused of threatening unlawful violence and using sledgehammers during the incident. The activists were accused of driving a prison van into the Elbit Systems factory in Filton, near Bristol. In February 2026, Kamio and the other five activists were acquitted of the aggravated burglary charges. The case has drawn attention to the tactics of Palestine Action and sparked debate about the legality and justification of protests targeting companies involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One of Kamio's co-defendants was even compared to suffragettes during the trial.
