The Ayuntamiento de Santander (Santander City Council) is currently in the news due to two main issues. Second, it's dealing with the aftermath of the collapse of a coastal walkway in El Bocal in early March, which resulted in the deaths of six young people. A judge investigating the El Bocal tragedy has determined that the Demarcación de Costas, a body under the Ministry for Ecological Transition, is solely responsible for the maintenance of the collapsed walkway.
