About
Aly Diouara, a member of La France Insoumise (LFI), is the newly elected mayor of La Courneuve in Seine-Saint-Denis, France, as of March 2026. He won the municipal election with 51.53% of the vote, narrowly defeating his Socialist opponent, Oumarou Doucouré (48.47%), who was supported by the PS president of the department. His victory followed a campaign described as "heated" and involved a merger with Nadia Chahboune, a non-affiliated candidate backed by the outgoing mayor. Diouara's win was also achieved with the support of the PCF (French Communist Party). He is currently newsworthy for accusing Marine Tondelier, the national secretary of the EELV (Europe Ecology – The Greens) party, of racism. This accusation stemmed from Tondelier's criticism of François Pupponi, the former mayor of Sarcelles, regarding his comments about his successor, Bassi Konaté.
