Fatema Rajwani

Fatema Rajwani, a 21-year-old, is a Palestine Action activist. Palestine Action is a group known for protesting against Israeli defence firms operating in the UK. Rajwani has recently been in the news due to her involvement in a break-in at an Elbit Systems factory in Filton, near Bristol, on August 6th. She, along with five other activists, was accused of aggravated burglary and violent disorder related to the incident, which involved driving a prison van into the factory and allegedly using sledgehammers. After spending 18 months in jail, Rajwani was released on bail and subsequently acquitted by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court. The acquittal of Rajwani and her co-defendants has been described by her as a vindication of their cause. Her barrister has even compared her to the suffragettes, highlighting her dedication to her activism. The dropping of charges against other Palestine Action activists involved in the same incident further underscores the legal challenges faced by the prosecution in these cases.
